Parent & Caregiver Coaching

Supporting Families as Partners in Therapy

Parents play an essential role in their child’s development. Parent coaching provides practical guidance that helps families support communication, behavior, and learning during everyday routines.

ABA S.T.E.P.S. works closely with families to share strategies that reinforce the skills children are learning during therapy. Coaching sessions focus on building confidence and helping caregivers apply effective techniques throughout daily life.

Our clinicians collaborate with families in a supportive and respectful way, recognizing that parents know their children best.

What Parent Coaching Looks Like

Parent coaching sessions are collaborative and practical. Clinicians may demonstrate strategies, observe interactions, and provide guidance that families can use at home.

During sessions, families may work on:

  • encouraging communication during everyday routines

  • supporting positive behavior using consistent strategies

  • helping children manage transitions and changes in routine

  • building independence with daily living skills

  • strengthening social interaction and play

The goal is to help families feel comfortable and confident using strategies that support their child’s progress.

Therapists collect data throughout sessions so programs can be adjusted as children make progress.

Why Parent Coaching Matters

Children make the most progress when learning continues throughout the day.

Parent Coaching Helps Families

  • Reinforce skills outside therapy sessions

  • Create consistent routines that support learning

  • Respond to challenging behaviors in effective ways

  • Build stronger communication and interaction with their child

Collaboration between families and clinicians creates a more supportive environment for growth.
